As a frequent traveler I hear this announcement all the time; yet it always catches my attention because as a parent it runs so contrary to natural instinct! In an emergency, my instinct would be to help my child first--but we all know if we don’t secure our own oxygen mask, we might not be able to help anyone else! One of the BEST things that we can do for ourselves and those we love is to take care of our personal health first! If you’re struggling to take time for yourself to exercise because it feels selfish—think about the fact you’ll be giving family and friends a much greater gift by becoming a happier, healthier person with more energy to enjoy life!
